- Electrical contractors are those who are involved in the construction, installation, and/or alteration of electrical devices and systems in residential, commercial, industrial, and/or public occupancies in Strongsville.
- HVAC stands for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. HVAC contractors are those who work in the construction, installation, and/or alteration of heating units and air-conditioning units in all occupancies of the City of Strongsville. While some jurisdictions differentiate this trade from other classifications, Strongsville includes refrigeration and hydronic systems in this category.
- Plumbing contractors work in the construction, installation, and/or alteration of all plumbing devices and sewer systems in Strongsville.
- Fire Alarm/Fire Suppression contractors work in exactly what their namesake entails: the construction, installation, and/or alteration of fire alarm and fire suppression systems.
- General Trades contractors work in all the trades that are not included in the Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Alarm/Fire Suppression categories. This includes but is not limited to: roofers, carpenters, excavators, etc.
Why is the Strongsville Contractor Bond required?
The Strongsville contractor bond is a requirement of obtaining a contractor license in the City of Strongsville. The $10,000 bond is meant as a guarantee to the Strongsville general public that contractors in Strongsville will fulfill their professional obligations to them. If a contractor does not perform a job up to standard, the person who hired said contractor is eligible to make a claim on the contractor’s bond.
Let’s explore a scenario where a contractor license bond is helpful. Let’s say client James hires contractor David to fix their damaged drainage system in the City of Strongsville. David then damages part of James’ property while attempting to repair the drainage system. James complains to David about the damage but David denies that it was caused by him. With no other means of seeking compensation, James decides to file a claim against David’s contractor license bond. The surety company that David purchased the bond from would then investigate James' claim, and if they find it to be valid, they would step in to pay for the damages. The maximum amount the surety can help pay for is $10,000, since that is the required bond amount for a Strongsville contractor. After repayment, the surety company would then seek repayment from David. If David refuses to pay, then the surety company can suspend David’s bond, which could result in a potential license suspension.
