The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, will be conducting an industry day to discuss an implementation plan for channel modifications proposed in the Mobile Harbor GRR. The Recommended Plan includes the following navigation improvements: deepen the existing Bar, Bay, and a portion of the River Channels by 5 ft; incorporate bend easings in the Bar Channel; widen the Bay Channel to 500 ft from the mouth of Mobile Bay northward for 3 nautical miles; and, expand the Choctaw Pass Turning Basin 250 ft to the south. Placement areas for the new work material dredged for the proposed navigation improvements are as follows: Relic Shell Mined Area, Sand Island Beneficial Use Area (SIBUA), and the Ocean Dredged Material Disposal Site (ODMDS). The industry day event will be held from 9:00 to 12:00 CST on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at 201 Saint Michael Street, Mobile, AL 36602 in Training Room 1. The meeting will consist of a general session with a presentation on the recommended plan, proposed contracting approach and schedule followed by an open discussion/feedback period. Additionally, individual 30 minute break out sessions will be held, at the request of the contractor, after the general session is over. Contractor comments and suggestions are strongly encouraged.
It is anticipated the work will be advertised under multiple Invitation for Bid (IFB) solicitations, which will result in corresponding awards of “C” type contracts, with the initial contract advertisement as early as Summer 2020. The phasing strategy, periods of performance, and number of contracts will be a discussion topic.

This RFI is issued solely for information and planning purposes and does not constitute a Request for Quote (RFQ) or a promise to issue an RFQ in the future. This request for information does not commit the Government to contract for any supply or service whatsoever.
