This work is for the reconstruction of approximately 2300 linear feet of the One Duck Trail, (5) rest areas and repairs to the existing alpine shelter. Major work items include but are not limited to; aggregate surfacing, boardwalk, stonework, drainage improvements, and demolition & removal of old trail structures. Option Item’s major work includes but is not limited to; (5) rest areas with benches, armored swales near shelter, improving existing foundation around shelter, and replacing several bunk and floor boards.

BASE BID: Starting at station 0+00 beside existing Alpine Shelter and ending at station 27+01
1. Mobilization
2. Demolition and removal of existing trail structures
3. Stone retaining walls, stone riser steps, solid rock removal, and stone pitching.

1. Rest Areas
a. (3) Benches on small aggregate pad beside trail alignment
b. (2) Rest Areas with spur trails, an aggregate pad and benches
2. Shelter Repairs
a. Armored swales around shelter for drainage improvements.
b. Cross bracing on existing shelter post foundation
c. Replace several cedar boards on bunks and floor.
The project is located on Prince of Wales Island, on the Tongass National Forest, Craig Ranger District. The trailhead is located along the Hydaburg Road approximately 2.5 miles after the Hollis-Klawock Highway intersection. The parking lot is on the west side of the road while the trail starts on the east side.
